Increasingly, America's working families and retirees face the choice of
buying food or buying life saving medicines. Pharmaceutical companies have
increased prices by an average of over fifteen percent per year for the last
few years. Companies profits totaled $30.6 billion in 2001 and their return
on revenue was more than five times better than the average of Fortune 500
companies. Meanwhile, people are forced to leave prescriptions unfilled
because they cannot afford the cost. �
